Terminal Lucidity in Children

Despite occurring throughout history and across cultures, terminal lucidity (TL) remains poorly understood. Although it is often reported in those of older age who have advanced dementia, it is also common in children who are terminally ill.

More research is needed to better understand TL in children, as this will provide important information and insights into the terminal phase and end-of-life care needs of children and their parents/caregivers during this important time.

Furthermore, new research insights into this topic will enable medical and other healthcare personnel to respond in better ways to anticipate and address those needs.

Funded by the Bial Foundation, this study aims to improve and increase our understanding about TL in children. It is the first study of its kind in the world to do so.
